William Busch (1901-1945)In 2003 Just Accord Music acquired copyrights to the music of the British composer, William Busch (1901-1945.) Admired by Vaughan Williams, Tippett and Finzi, Busch was establishing a reputation as a composer of note when he died, in tragic circumstances, aged just 43.

Busch's Piano Concerto was broadcast by the BBC in January 1939 with Busch at the piano. Busch's Cello Concerto was given at the 1943 Proms by the cellist Florence William Busch, Selected SongsHooton with Adrian Boult conducting.

As well as some fine pieces of chamber music, including a Piano Quartet, Busch composed twenty-three songs. According to the baritone Sinclair Logan, Busch's principal advocate during his lifetime, “it is in his songs that Busch was most original”.

In September 2004, Just Accord Music published a volume of Busch's Selected Songs with a foreword by the distinguished broadcaster and music critic, John Amis. The volume includes a song cycle, There Have Been Happy Days - settings of poems from the First World War.
